Visual Venture: Investigations with Images and Videos for Middle School Education
Abstract
A software tool, which allows a middle school student to take measurements on images and videos, is presented. Using this software, students became scientists as they measure, collect and analyze data from a wide range of imagery. We demonstrate several novel techniques in image/video processing which enable students to take sophisticated measurements on a wide range of imagery. Routines which perform intelligent color segmentation and create visualizations of motion information are integrated into the software.
