An Integrated Framework of Inducing Rules from Examples

Abstract

The paper presents an integrated framework, namely IR 1, for inducing the inference rules from examples. Achieving this requires considering the generality, inducibility, incrementality, uncertainty and hierarchy of expert rules. Our approach is a mutual integration of empirical and analytical techniques to avoid shortcomings of them when applied individually. It also incorporates some interesting ideas or algorithms to achieve these goals. Primary experimental results are encouraging and more work is required.
