An Approach to Concept Learning Based on Term Generalization

Abstract

The paper presents an approach to concept learning in the framework of a distributed logic programming system, called Net-clause language (NCL). NCL provides built-in mechanisms for term generalization and data-driven deductive inference, which are also basic features of the discussed approach to learning. The approach is illustrated by solving a kind of a learning-from-examples problem for recognition of geometric figures.
