User-Initiated Context Switching Using NFC

Abstract

Abstract. Near Field Communication is an application of Radio Frequency Identification technologies in very short range. In this paper we present an easy and cheap way for users to set their context using a mobile phone equipped with an NFC reader device. In one application, the user is able to update presence information in a web log, in another to convey simple emotions to another person, and in a third application, update a “mood meter ” by touching. 1
